General movement guidance

This page currently uses general lunge guidance. Check the exact setup and use qualified coaching when the movement is unfamiliar or complex.

Movement sequence

  1. Set a stable stance and keep the front foot fully planted.
  2. Lower with control while the front knee tracks in line with the toes.
  3. Push through the front foot to return without twisting the hips.

Form cues

  • Front foot heavy
  • Hips stay square
  • Knee tracks cleanly

Common mistakes

  • Pushing off the back leg too much
  • Letting the front knee cave inward

Scale it

Easier: Hold a support or shorten the stride.

Harder: Add load, tempo, or a deficit once balance is stable.
