Equipment and setup
An intact resistance band and, when needed, a secure anchor that will not move under tension.
This page currently uses general lateral movement guidance. Check the exact setup and use qualified coaching when the movement is unfamiliar or complex.
Movement sequence
- Set the band position and stand tall with the knees softly bent.
- Step sideways under control while keeping the toes mostly forward.
- Bring the trailing foot in without letting the knees collapse inward.
Form cues
- Toes mostly forward
- Hips stay level
- Band tension stays smooth
Common mistakes
- Dragging the trailing foot
- Letting the knees cave inward
Scale it
Easier: Use a lighter band or take smaller side steps.
Harder: Use a stronger band or add longer controlled sets.
